Happy October! Can't get enough of Chris Thile's Bach Sonatas and Partitas, Vol. 1. It has been in my ears all weekend. The Double: Presto from Partita in B minor? SO good. I like to think that Bach would be grinning to this. I love that Chris consistently does such an amazing job at exploring new genres, new limits to his instrument, and that he's bringing the amazing music of Bach to new audiences- and a fresh new spin on it to the rest of us. Is it bad that I like these works on mandolin considerably more than I like them on violin? Something about the timbre makes it sound more baroque and less formal.
